Onboard the flights were Vietnamese students and workers who live in Covid-19 affected areas of Japan and have difficulty in housing, finance and visa extension. All of these passengers had been medically checked up and had their body temperature measured before boarding flight and they also wore face masks during their trip.

This is the first time repatriation flights of Vietnamese citizens have landed at Van Don since the airport resumed operation on March 3, 2021, after the expiration of temporary closure in order to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic.

Stricter regulations are imposed amidst complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2020, Van Don International Airport welcomed over 180 repatriation flights of Vietnamese citizens and foreign experts from Covid-19 hotspot countries. Notably, in January, 2021, the airport had greeted one flight from Japan and 4 ones from Korea prior to being closed to avoid the spread of the pandemic.

Stricter regulations are imposed amidst complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, all passengers are required to complete mandatory medical declaration forms. The International Medical Quarantine Center and other relevant units provide screening check-ups in order to detect any suspected cases through remote body temperature scanners. Moreover, both the hand luggage and suitcases of all passengers are thoroughly disinfected in line with regulations.
