Quang Ninh emerges as a top destination for MICE tourism during peak season

Beyond its appeal as a leisure destination, Quang Ninh is increasingly emerging as a leading choice for conferences, seminars and large-scale events. The strong growth in MICE tourist arrivals this summer reflects the effectiveness of the province’s strategy to diversify tourism products, helping enhance visitor spending and strengthen the competitiveness of the local tourism sector.

Quang Ninh recently welcomed a MICE delegation of more than 1,600 participants from a nationwide service network for a five-day, four-night programme. The group was among the largest MICE delegations brought to the province by Ha Noi Saigontourist Travel Service Company since the beginning of 2026, further demonstrating Quang Ninh’s appeal in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) segment. During their stay, participants not only toured local attractions and enjoyed leisure activities but also attended conferences, specialised seminars, gala dinners and team-building programmes at high-end hotels and resorts across the province.

According to Ngo Van Huy, Head of the Domestic Tourism Department at Ha Noi Saigontourist Travel Service Company, Quang Ninh is currently one of Vietnam’s most promising destinations for MICE tourism development, thanks to its well-developed tourism infrastructure, diverse network of four- and five-star hotels, distinctive natural landscapes and continually improving service quality. Demand for MICE tours to Quang Ninh during the peak tourism season and in the remaining months of the year has been rising strongly, including many groups of more than 1,000 guests.

In addition to its success in the domestic market, Quang Ninh is also becoming an increasingly popular destination for international MICE groups from China, Japan, South Korea, India and Southeast Asian countries. Vinayak Razdan, General Manager of FLC Grand Hotel Ha Long, said the hotel has continuously welcomed international MICE groups from Japan, India, Malaysia, Singapore and other markets since the beginning of the year. Notably, many visitors have returned to the province with family members or friends after attending events, seeking to further explore the province’s tourism offerings. This reflects both the attractiveness of the destination and the steadily improving quality of tourism services.

As summer marks the peak season for conferences, seminars, corporate reviews and customer appreciation events, Quang Ninh is well placed to capitalise on the growing influx of MICE travellers. The province currently has more than 1,380 accommodation establishments with over 20,000 rooms, along with 32 tourism routes and 78 tourist attractions in operation, providing sufficient capacity to serve large-scale groups. The province has also continued to introduce new tourism products to enhance visitor experiences and encourage longer stays. New offerings and events, including regular fireworks displays, water music shows in the Bai Chay area, the VUI-Fest pedestrian street, and a growing fleet of luxury cruises and floating restaurants, are adding further appeal to the destination and meeting the expectations of high-end MICE travellers.

In 2026, Quang Ninh aims to welcome nearly 22.5 million tourist arrivals and generate more than VND 68.5 trillion in tourism revenue. Developing MICE tourism has been identified as one of the province’s key priorities to increase visitor spending, improve the quality of growth and diversify source markets. With its strengths in infrastructure, tourism products and event-hosting capacity, Quang Ninh is steadily reinforcing its position as a leading MICE tourism hub in northern Vietnam, with the goal of becoming a leading regional destination for major events, conferences and resort tourism in the years ahead.
