The opening ceremony of the 3rd Quang Ninh International Chess Tournament was held on June 24 at the Quang Ninh Exhibition of Planning and Expo Center in Ha Long Ward. The tournament is jointly organised by the Vietnam Chess Federation and the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This marks the third edition of the tournament, which is gradually establishing itself as one of Vietnam’s largest international chess competitions. This year’s event has attracted more than 140 players from 21 countries and territories. The host province of Quang Ninh is represented by 25 players. The 2026 Quang Ninh International Chess Tournament is expected to further enhance professional standards while promoting the development of chess and strengthening international sport exchanges in Vietnam. The tournament will run until July 7, 2026.
