Quang Ninh suspends public transport across the province from Jan 28 amid Covid-19 spread

The Quang Ninh Deparment of Transport has suspended all public transport services, both on roads and in the waterway, starting today, January 28, as a preventive measure against the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

This morning, the Ministry of Health confirmed a new Covid-19 infected case, "patient 1553", the first Covid-9 community transmission since December, 2020. This 31-year-old staff works at the Van Don International Airport and lives in Hong Ha ward in Ha Long city. The airport has served many repatriation flights amid the pandemic and many arrivals were later confirmed as Covid-19 patients. The patient is now treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi.

Therefore, all public transport services such as buses and ferries have temporarilty  stopped working from 6 am today, January 28. The suspension, in force until the time a new decision will be made, aims to restrict travel and disease spreading across the province.

The Department of Transport assigned the inspecting staff to promote patrol activities and mobilize forces to join local epidemic control posts when required.

In order handle this situation, Quang Ninh province is now eploying epidemiological investigations and urgent epidemic controlling measure such as  testing, contact tracing, and quarantine. Local residents are asked to strictly conform to every containment regulation and try to keep themselves informed of any new development.
