Hoanh Bo Guava has currently emerged as one of the most popular agricultural products in not only Quang Ninh province but also adjacent localities.
“In 2008, I decided to invest in the project of planting Taiwanese guava, which has recently been named Hoanh Bo quava, due to its high yield and good quality suggested by the Central Seed Research Institute. The very first plants grew fast and gained high productivity thanks to suitable weather and land conditions. My family then expanded our business and shared our experience with other farming households. These plants have been growned by many households in this region and other communes such as Son Duong, Tan Dan, Bang Ca, Thong Nhat and so on”, Mr Dinh Manh Doi, a pioneer in the production of Taiwan guava in Hoanh Bo said.
According to statistics, Hoanh Bo quava plants are cultivated in the total area of more than 70 hectares in Ha Long city and meet all current agricultural standards.
The trademark of Hoanh Bo guava has been registered as one of OCOP products. The OCOP (One Commune, One Product) programme has been implemented since 2013 to boost economic development in rural areas, especially the development of agricultural, non-agricultural and service-based products in each locality in the value chain.
In terms of service development, Hoanh Bo guava growing housholds are now organizing a range of experiential tourism activities which encourage tourists to visit their guava gardens, experience planting and harvesting these fruits and enjoy their special taste as well.
“In order to ensure safety and hygiene as well as provide visitors with enjoyable and unforgettatble trips, we have already installed automatic irrigation equipment and used clean water and organic herbal fertilizers during the whole cultivating process” Mr. An Van Kim at Dong Dang village in Son Duong commune said.
Visitors are able to buy Hoanh Bo guava and visit these amazing gardens at some communes of Son Duong, Dan Chu, Tan Dan, Bang Ca, Quang La, Le Loi in Hoanh Bo ward, Ha Long city. These producs are also available at a variety of supermarkets such as Vinmart, BigC, MM Mega Market in this city with the price ranging from VND 25,000 to VND 35,000.
