On Nov.23, a Vietnam Airlines flight with 290 Vietnamese citizens onboard landed at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province after departing from the Republic of Korea (RoK). All of the passengers paid the full cost of quarantine packages.
According to Vo Huy Cuong, deputy director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, immediately upon arrival, passengers must adhere to strict medical control and quarantine regulations.
"The four airports capable of receiving flights carrying stranded Vietnamese nationals home include Van Don, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, and Can Tho", he said.
Every passenger on the flight paid for relevant quarantine packages, including the price of the airfare, a pickup fee from the airport to go to the quarantine facilities, daily meals, and a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) testing fee.
The flight marks one of seven pilot repatriation flights that aims to bring Vietnamese nationals home from the RoK, Japan, and Taiwan (China), with each of the passengers on these flights set to pay all of the necessary fees.
The International Airport of Van Don has so far received more than 31,000 passengers, including COVID-19 patients, from disease-hit areas globally.
