Culture and Sports Week in honor of ethnic groups to open in Tien Yen

The third Culture and Sports Week for ethnic groups in the northeastern region, is going to be officially kicked off with a large-scale arts programme at 8pm on October 30 in Tien Yen district.

Within the framework of the ceremony, a 120-minute arts programme with the theme "Tien Yen - A link to diverse colors of ethnic groups in the Northeastern region" features approximately 700 actors, actresses and artisans from different localities inside and outside the province.

The unique performances which highlight the strengths, traditional festivals as well as diverse cultural and artistic characteristics of the ethnic people in the Northeastern region of Quang Ninh province are expected to leave locals and visitors with distinct impression.

The event will also cover the announcement of  the Ministry of Construction’s decision on recognizing that the expanded Tien Yen town has met the grade-IV urban criteria and a charity programme that calls individuals and organizations on supporting people in the Central region of the country suffering from devastating impacts of flood.

The opening ceremony of the 3rd Culture and Sports Week for ethnic groups in the northeastern of Quang Ninh will be broadcast live on the channel of QTV3 and on the Quang Ninh Media Group’s fanpage on Facebook (QMG - Tin tức Quảng Ninh 24/7).

During the week, highlights include traditional music performances, traditional costume shows, photo and painting exhibitions, boat racing, folk games, a trade fair on local products, etc.  The festival aims to promote cultural exchange between ethnic minority groups in the area, share experiences in the preservation and promotion of Vietnam’s traditional culture, and strengthen understanding and solidarity among ethnic groups.

Tien Yen district, in the heart of northeastern Quang Ninh province, is close by Ha Long Bay, the Mong Cai border gate economic zone, and the Van Don economic zone. Tien Yen is home to several ethnic minority groups whose cultural identities have passed down the generations.
