Managing and promoting the value of the Co To – Tran Island marine protected area

On May 7, the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Co To Special Zone, held a conference to implement decisions issued by the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee on the establishment and management assignment of the Co To – Tran Island Marine Protected Area. The coordination regulations for the Area’s management were also signed at the conference.

Under the decision of the provincial People’s Committee, the Management Team of the Co To – Tran Island Marine Protected Area will operate under the Bai Tu Long National Park Conservation Center, an affiliate of the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board. The Co To – Tran Island Marine Protected Area was established to safeguard marine ecosystems, restore and develop aquatic resources, and contribute to sustainable marine economic development in line with the national biodiversity conservation strategy and Quang Ninh Province’s master plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision toward 2050.
