Co To island in Vietnam’s northeastern Quang Ninh city has launched a fall and winter tourism campaign for 2026, offering special travel packages and discounts to attract visitors beyond the peak summer season and promote the island as a year-round destination.
Local authorities are working with the Co To Tourism Association and tourism businesses to introduce a range of promotional offers, combining transportation, accommodation, dining and sightseeing services into convenient travel packages.
Participating businesses will provide discounts, vouchers, complimentary services and other incentives tailored to different groups of travelers.
Some packages include high-speed ferry tickets, hotel or homestay accommodation and electric vehicle tours of the island’s main attractions, allowing visitors to organize their trips more easily while taking advantage of seasonal savings.
In addition to the travel deals, Co To has launched a tourism marketing campaign under the slogan “Co To in Autumn - Proud to be an ASEAN destination”.
The campaign highlights the island’s natural landscapes, beaches, cultural heritage and local communities, while promoting environmentally friendly tourism, wellness retreats, traditional cuisine and experiences that offer visitors a closer look at island life.
Cultural and sporting activities suited to the cooler months will also feature in the campaign.
Local authorities hope the initiative will encourage more visitors to explore Co To outside the busy summer months, strengthen cooperation among tourism operators and support the development of a more sustainable year-round tourism economy.
Discovering Co To's natural beauty and island culture
Located off the coast of Quang Ninh province in northeastern Vietnam, Co To is known for its white-sand beaches, clear blue waters, rocky shores and traditional fishing villages.
The island attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, particularly during the summer, thanks to its coastal scenery, fresh seafood and peaceful atmosphere.
Among its best-known attractions are Hong Van and Van Chay beaches, Co To Con Island and Love Beach, where visitors can explore scenic coastlines, relax by the sea and enjoy sunrise and sunset views.
Co To also offers cultural and historical attractions, including a memorial dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh and a national sovereignty flagpole, reflecting the island's historical and cultural significance.
Visitors can explore fishing villages, learn about the daily lives of local residents and sample freshly caught seafood, gaining insight into the island's maritime traditions.
For travelers looking to explore beyond the main island, Co To is developing island-hopping tours connecting lesser-known destinations such as Co To Con, Hon Su Tu (Lion Islet), Hon Ca Chep (Carp Islet) and Thanh Lan Island.
These routes offer opportunities to discover secluded beaches, distinctive rock formations and relatively untouched coastal landscapes.
Accessible by high-speed ferry from the mainland, Co To has 211 accommodation establishments with nearly 3,000 rooms, along with restaurants, homestays and electric sightseeing vehicles serving visitors.
Promoting green and sustainable tourism
Sustainable tourism is becoming an increasingly important part of Co To's destination identity.
Its signature tourism brand, “Co To - The green island experience”, highlights sustainable rural tourism by combining the archipelago's natural beauty with local culture, traditional cuisine and community-based experiences.
The initiative encourages visitors to explore the islands responsibly while supporting local livelihoods and preserving the area's distinctive coastal environment.
Co To is also promoting efforts to reduce single-use plastics, encourage environmentally friendly practices among tourism businesses and protect its marine ecosystems.
Beyond traditional beach holidays, local authorities are seeking to diversify tourism offerings through nature-based activities, cultural and historical experiences, local cuisine and community tourism.
By combining seasonal travel incentives with sustainable tourism development, Co To aims to extend its tourism season, reduce its reliance on summer visitors and strengthen its appeal as a destination for travelers seeking natural beauty, authentic local experiences and a quieter island getaway throughout the year.
