On the sidelines of the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in South Korea, Quang Ninh delegation led by Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Cong had a meeting with the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). The discussion focused on the management, protection and promotion of the values of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Cong provided information on the management, protection and promotion of the component of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes located in Quang Ninh. He emphasized that the province has implemented relevant tasks comprehensively and strictly in close accordance with the recommendations of the World Heritage Committee.
Quang Ninh has closely coordinated with Bac Ninh province, Hai Phong city and central ministries and sectors to establish an inter-provincial management framework and finalise coordination regulations for the unified and effective conservation, sustainable exploitation and promotion of the heritage’s values.
ICOMOS representatives acknowledged Quang Ninh’s efforts to safeguard the integrity of the heritage through the protection of forest landscapes and the system of historical and cultural sites, controlling development, and integratingconservation with sustainable tourism development. They also praised local community involvement in preserving the cultural and spiritual values of the Truc Lam Zen sect, highlighting this as a vital factor for heritage site’s long-term vitality.
The achieved results not only affirm Quang Ninh’s commitment to implementing UNESCO’s recommendations but also provide an important foundation for Yen Tu in particular and the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes as a whole to sustainably promote their values and become cultural and spiritual destinations with broad influence both domestically and internationally.
