The coal industry is one of Quang Ninh’s key economic sectors and also one of the three pillars of national energy security. As the province and the country enter a new period of opportunity, the coal industry is also undergoing positive changes, particularly by accelerating the application of science and technology, promoting digital transformation, modernising production methods, and improving productivity and efficiency.
By the end of 2025, the group had put into operation 14 fully mechanised longwall mining systems, producing around 4.5 million tonnes of coal, accounting for 16% of total underground coal output. During the 2026–2030 period, the target is to continue raising the proportion of mechanised mining to around 25–30%. As Quang Ninh prepares to open up a new development space, the coal industry is continuing to affirm its position with a new profile – more proactive, more modern and more sustainable. This is also how the sector continues to contribute to Quang Ninh’s rapid and sustainable development.
