The 33rd Diplomatic Conference officially opened in Hanoi on August 1 under the theme: “Promoting the pioneering role and fulfilling Vietnam's key and regular foreign affairs tasks in the new era”.
The conference, running from August 1 to 7, features 18 working sessions focusing on implementing the foreign policy adopted at the 14th National Party Congress, reviewing recent achievements in foreign affairs and international integration, and identifying priorities for building a comprehensive, modern and professional diplomatic service in the new era.
Addressing the opening session, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam stressed that, for the first time, the 14th National Party Congress had identified foreign affairs and international integration as a key and regular task of the entire political system. He called on the diplomatic sector to renew its thinking, strengthen strategic research, forecasting and advisory work, deepen relations with international partners, promote economic, science, technology and innovation diplomacy, and build a highly qualified diplomatic workforce capable of meeting the country's development needs in the new era.
