On the evening of April 22, at the Tran Hung Dao Temple and Vua Ba Shrine within the Bach Dang Special National Historical Site in Quang Yen Ward, the 2026 Bach Dang Traditional Festival officially opened in a solemn atmosphere, drawing a large number of delegates, local residents and visitors.
Recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, the Bach Dang Festival commemorates three historic victories on the Bach Dang River in 938, 981 and 1288 - milestones in Viet Nam’s history of nation-building and defence. The opening ceremony featured a solemn incense-offering ritual in tribute to ancestors and national heroes, followed by the ceremonial drum performance that officially kicked off a four-day festival running from April 22 to 25.
Beyond honoring the tradition of gratitude to forebears, the festival also promotes heritage values and the cultural–tourism potential of Quang Ninh Province, contributing to the development of distinctive tourism products linked to the heritage economy.
