Quang Ninh steps up efforts to attract international visitors

Amid a complex global context, particularly ongoing instability in the Middle East that has kept crude oil prices elevated and increased travel and service costs, Quang Ninh’s tourism sector has proactively renewed its offerings, expanded markets, and enhanced service quality to sustain growth and strengthen its appeal to international visitors.

With the outstanding values of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, and Yen Tu, a UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage Site, along with more than 630 historical and scenic attractions, Quang Ninh has a solid foundation for developing high-quality tourism. In line with the province’s orientations, tourism businesses have focused on building a diversified tourism ecosystem, prioritizing high value-added segments such as luxury resorts, marine and island tourism, cultural and spiritual travel, cruise tourism, and MICE. Heritage-based experiences, particularly overnight cruises on the bay, remain a key highlight in attracting international visitors.

Quang Ninh’s appeal lies not only in its oustanding values of the heritages but also in its ongoing efforts to enhance visitor experiences and better meet the expectations of international travelers. The tourism sector continues to strengthen linkages, promote destination marketing, and expand cooperation with global tour operators. Key source markets including Southeast Asia, China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Europe, and cruise travelers are being actively targeted for expansion.

At the same time, Quang Ninh is prioritizing the development of modern, integrated transport and tourism infrastructure to enhance destination competitiveness. Quang Ninh is among the few localities in Viet Nam with a comprehensive, well-synchronized transport network spanning road, air, sea, and inland waterways. Notably, highways, Van Don International Airport, and Ha Long International Cruise Port continue to play a pivotal role in improving destination accessibility, particularly for international and high-end cruise travelers.

In the first quarter of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed an estimated 6.28 million tourist arrivals, including approximately 1.4 million international arrivals, generating tourism revenue of VND 15.687 trillion. These figures demonstrate the sector’s resilience and sustained growth momentum despite global impacts. In 2026, the province targets to welcome 22 million tourist arrivals, including 5.2 million international arrivals, with total tourism revenue projected at around VND 55 trillion, further affirming tourism as a key economic driver contributing significantly to overall provincial growth.
