On July 6, a delegation from Quang Ninh Province, led by Bui Van Khang, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, paid a working visit to the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China.
On the morning of July 6, the Quang Ninh delegation held talks with the leadership of Fangchenggang City and conducted a field visit to Dongxing City. During the meeting, Quang Ninh Province and Fangchenggang City agreed to further facilitate cross-border trade by creating more favourable conditions for import and export activities, promoting 24/7 customs clearance, and expanding the list of goods eligible for cross-border trade.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in science and technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, the green economy, tourism, healthcare and people-to-people exchanges, while continuing close coordination in border management and protection to maintain security and order in border areas. They also agreed to accelerate the implementation of strategic connectivity projects, including the Bac Luan III Bridge and the cross-border railway, while expediting the development of the Smart Border Gate model, the Cross-border Industrial Cooperation Zone, and the Cross-border Economic Cooperation Zone. These initiatives are expected to create fresh momentum for economic, trade and logistics cooperation between the two localities.
In Nanning, Chairman Bui Van Khang and the delegation paid a courtesy call on Sun Dawei, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Sun Dawei noted that China–Vietnam relations are entering a new stage of development with broad opportunities for cooperation.
Building on this foundation, the friendly ties between Guangxi and Quang Ninh have continued to deepen and yielded positive results. He expressed his hope that the two sides would further capitalise on their respective strengths and deepen their comprehensive partnership, with priority given to cross-border economic cooperation, stronger connectivity in trade, tourism, border gate administration and border management, thereby helping build a peaceful, friendly, stable and prosperous border region.
Continuing the working visit to Guangxi, Chairman Bui Van Khang and the delegation visited the China–ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Innovation Cooperation Center and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning on the afternoon of July 6.
At the China–ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Innovation Cooperation Center, the delegation was briefed on its organisational structure, development strategy and the AI ecosystem being developed in Guangxi. The centre serves as a key platform for AI cooperation between China and ASEAN, as well as a public service platform for innovation, connecting enterprises, research institutes, universities and science and technology organisations engaged in artificial intelligence.
Later the same day, the delegation visited the Consulate General of Vietnam in Nanning. On behalf of Quang Ninh's provincial leaders, Chairman Bui Van Khang extended his greetings and best wishes to the Consulate General's staff and provided an overview of the province's socio-economic development as well as the outcomes of the delegation's working visit to Guangxi. He also expressed his hope that the Consulate General would continue to serve as a bridge in strengthening cooperation between Quang Ninh, Guangxi and other localities across China.
