In order to preserve and promote the values of Ha Long Bay, over the last years, Quang Ninh has paid special attention to and invested in environmental protection, making an important contribution to shifting from brown to green growth in the province.
In order to balance tourism development and environmental protection, Ha Long Bay Management Board has regularly implemented synchronous measures to collect waste on the bay, at tourist sites, on sightseeing routes. It also places floating trash bins; upgrades public toilets and wastewater treatment systems at tourist attractions on Ha Long Bay. These measures not only help making Ha Long Bay greener but also positively change businesses and tourists’ perception on minimizing single-use plastic products in tourism activities. To date, plastic waste generated from tourism activities on Ha Long Bay has been 90% reduced.
