Proposal to establish Quang Ninh as a centrally governed city undergoes appraisal

On July 7, an inter-agency delegation led by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Truong Hai Long, worked with Quang Ninh Province to review and appraise the proposal for the establishment of Quang Ninh as a centrally governed city. Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vu Van Dien worked with the delegation.

The proposal outlines upgrading Quang Ninh to a centrally governed city based on its current administrative boundaries, spanning over 6,231 square kilometres with a population of over 1.5 million, comprising 54 commune-level administrative units, including 30 wards, 22 communes, and two special zones. According to the proposal, Quang Ninh has meet all five required conditions and seven statutory criteria for the establishment of a centrally governed city. Members of the appraisal panel highly praised the quality of the proposal and affirmed that Quang Ninh fully meets the requirements to become a centrally governed city.
