With a strategy to diversify international visitor markets, Quang Ninh tourism is recording positive signals as it gradually reduces dependence on traditional markets, while expanding into potential Southeast Asia markets.
Recently, Quang Ninh has welcomed several tourist groups from the Philippines as part of their cross-Vietnam travel itineraries. This marks an initial result of tourism promotion and marketing activities carried out in the Philippine market earlier this year. The efforts to access and develop the Philippine market serves as a foundation for Quang Ninh tourism to further tap into other potential Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia and Malaysia. In the first four months of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed more than 1.8 million international tourist arrivals, up 16% year-on-year. Major source markets remained Northeast Asia, India, and several European and American countries. The arrival of new tourist groups from Southeast Asia is considered an important step toward expanding tourism markets, enhancing competitiveness, and gradually building a sustainable foundation for Quang Ninh’s tourism development.
