On Jan. 10, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project to upgrade the Provincial Road 341 (National Highway 18C) was jointly organized by the Management Board of Quang Ninh Economic Zone and the People's Committee of Mong Cai city.
The second phase of the project covers the upgrading of the route from the economic zone of Mong Cai border gate to the economic zone of Bac Phong Sinh border gate.
This project was approved by the provincial People's Committee on November 15, 2018, and adjusted on July 12, 2021. The total area of plan is 34.12 hectares, the total length of the route is 13.83 kilometers. The starting point is at Po Hen bridge (Km88+195), the center of Hai Son commune and the ending point connects to the ending point of the 1st phase at Km103+314, National Highway 18C.
The roadbed is 9 meters wide and the road surface is 6 meters. This third-grade road has a design speed of 60km/h. This phase costs VND 297 billion and is planned to be constructed within 660 days from the date of commencement.
This route connecting the two border-gate economic zones of Mong Cai and Bac Phong Sinh is expected to create favorable conditions for goods circulation, thereby acting as a driving force for socio-economic development of Mong Cai city, Ha Ha district in particular and Quang Ninh province in general.
It will also contribute to the improvement of the infrastructure system in border areas, boosting socio-economic development while protecting national sovereignty and security.
The first phase of the project has been completed and put into operation by the Management Board of Quang Ninh Economic Zone since 2020.
