The year 2025 was marked by considerable volatility amid a complex global political landscape. In particular, the United States’ reciprocal tariff policies, anti-dumping measures, and subsidies applied tocertain energy products… had a direct impact on international trade, especially on import–export activities and maritime transport.

Against this backdrop, accounting for over 40% of total cargo throughput handled by seaports in northern Viet Nam, the Quang Ninh Maritime Administration proactively coordinated closely with local state management agencies to synchronously implement a range of flexible operational solutions. At the same time, the province also actively seized opportunities arising from shifting investment trends and the restructuring of global supply chains to promote selective investment attraction. To facilitate maritime transport activities, Quang Ninh has continuously renewed its management practices, stepped up digital transformation based on operational realities to create a more open, efficient working environment, thereby improving service quality across ports and logistics operations.

Thanks to these proactive and concrete solutions, by the end of 2025 cargo volume handled at ports in Quang Ninh reached 161,414,535 tonnes, up 7.94% compared to 2024. Notably, cruise passenger tourists  reached 185,643 arrivals, marking a 19.89% year-on-year increase, contributing positively not only to Quang Ninh’s overall economic growth in 2025 but also to the national economic growth.

Looking ahead to 2026, the first year of a new phase of breakthrough development, Quang Ninh will continue to capitalize on its existing infrastructure advantages. The province will intensify promotion of its potential and strengths to attract additional cargo volumes and major shipping lines, while accelerating digital transformation and administrative procedure reforms to create a more transparent, favorable business environment. These efforts are expected to further drive the development of the maritime economy, and generate new momentum for economic growth.
