The Van Don Special Zone People's Committee has approved a pilot plan for developing a marine and island ecotourism model associated with aquaculture in 2026.
The model will be implemented across 16 marine farming areas, where visitors will be able to tour high-tech fish and oyster farms, harvest seafood, enjoy kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, and sample fresh seafood at floating tourism facilities. A key feature of the programme is the development of eight to ten model floating platforms combining aquaculture production with tourism services. Van Don aims to welcome more than 90,000 tourist arrivals and generate around VND225 billion in revenue in 2026. The initiative is also expected to promote green tourism, improve local incomes and make more effective use of the area's marine economic potential.
