In the vibrant atmosphere of the early days of the Year of the Horse, Van Don Special Zone solemnly held the Peace-Praying Ceremony and Whale Worship Festival 2026 at the King Ly Anh Tong Temple and Cai Rong Fishing Port.

The festival is organised to commemorate and honour the significant contributions of King Ly Anh Tong, who established Van Don Commercial Port in 1149, marking a period of flourishing maritime trade in the Northeast sea region. The event not only carries profound historical significance but also offers today’s generations a great opportunity to express gratitude to their predecessors who laid the foundations for a locality rich in marine economic traditions.

A highlight of the Whale Worship Festival is the ceremonial offering at the fishing port and the offshore departure ritual for fishing vessels. Following the command drumbeat, boats simultaneously started their engines and headed out to open sea amid the excitement of local fishermen.
