This is the second shipment of 1 million quick test kits that administrations of several German states presented to Vietnam to help the country control the spread of COVID-19.

Earlier, 170,000 rapid test kits were also transported by Vietnam Airlines to Hanoi on June 27.

The test kits, worth some EUR560,000, will be allocated to Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong Province which are seriously affected by the fourth wave of COVID-19.

Since the outbreak, nearly 180 tons of medical equipment such as ventilators, X-ray machines, test kits, protective gear, masks, vaccines and vaccination supplies have been transported by Vietnam Airlines with transportation support costs to serve the pandemic work.

Vietnam Airlines also carried out nearly 20 flights to distribute 2 million doses of vaccine to domestic destinations. In particular, the vaccines supplied under the COVAX mechanism are transported completely free of charge.

Since Mid-June, Vietnam Airlines has transported more than 3,000 experts, officials, doctors and medical students from many parts of the country to participate in the fight against the epidemic in southern localities such as HCM City, Binh Duong and Dong Thap.

The freight volume in the first half of 2021 will reach nearly 100,000 tons, including many kinds of urgent goods for pandemic prevention and control or aid goods from the Government and people of Vietnam to other countries and vice versa.

In the coming time, the airline will continue to carry out flights of practical significance to join hands with the whole country in prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.
