From February 12 to 14, the Indian film Silaa is being filmed at the World Natural Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, and several locations on Tuan Chau Island. The film is expected to contribute to promoting the natural beauty, culture, and people of Quang Ninh to international audiences.
Silaa is a romantic action film, anticipated to attract wide attention from audiences in both India and Viet Nam. With a production budget of approximately USD 4 million, the film crew consists of nearly 100 people, including Sadia Khateeb, a well-known Bollywood actress, and Omung Kumar Bhandula, a prominent Indian film director, producer, and television host.
According to director Omung Kumar Bhandula, he has visited Ha Long Bay three times. What impressed him most is the bay’s majestic yet poetic scenery, with limestone mountains rising above emerald waters that change color throughout the day. He added that once the film featuring Ha Long Bay is released in India, more people will learn about the bay’s beauty and be inspired to visit the heritage site.
Designated by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay is renowned for its spectacular landcapes. Beyond attracting tourists, it has also been chosen by international filmmakers as a filming location for well-known productions such as Indochine (1992), Top Gear: Vietnam Special (2008), and Pan (2015).
