On March 22, a scientific conference titled “Expert consultation on the orientation for developing Yen Tu heritage city” was held, featuring presentations and discussions by experts and scholars from Viet Nam and abroad across multiple fields.
Discussions at the conference focused on identifying the historical, cultural and spatial values of Yen Tu and its inter-regional heritage corridor, while proposing models for sustainable conservation and the development of a heritage city associated with a multi-sector heritage economy. These contributions help shape a comprehensive planning orientation for Yen Tu. The development space of the heritage city is defined in an integrated manner, forming a continuous axis of historical, cultural and creative connectivity along the Dong A Heritage Corridor, linking the ancient Van Don trading port with Bai Tu Long Bay – Ha Long Bay, and the Bach Dang – Yen Tu – Dong Trieu historical sites. In this approach, heritage is not only preserved but also revitalised, spread and further developed in contemporary life. Expert consultations are expected to help gradually refine planning orientations and promote the sustainable development of Yen Tu, with the goal of establishing it as a representative heritage city model of Viet Nam, the region and beyond.
