Van Don ancient port to be nominated for Special National Relic Site

The Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee has approved the outline and general missions of the project to compile the nomination dossier of the Special National Relic status for the ancient port of Van Don in Van Don district.

The Department of Culture and Sports is supposed to play a major role and work closely with other correlated agencies and localities to implement this project.

The spatial scope of the project includes relevant sites, landmarks, archaeological ruins and existing architectural monuments, and the landscape of Van Don ancient commercial port area.

The time range starts from the presence of the ancient Vietnamese in Van Don till the establishment of the ancient trading port of Van Don and until today.

The research site covers the communes of Thang Loi, Minh Chau, Ngoc Vung and Quan Lan in Van Don district and related relic sites across Quang Ninh province.

As planned, the project costing about VND  4,570 billion comprises a variety of missions such as doing site surveys, collecting documents, organizing scientific conferences, etc.

All of the tasks will have been finished by April 2022.
