Since 2011, Quang Ninh has chosen a new development path: shifting its development model from “brown” to “green”. This transformation has not only changed the look of Quang Ninh but has also become a vivid practical example, contributing valuable experience to Vietnam’s green and sustainable development process.
In tourism, Quang Ninh has consistently shifted from quantity-based to quality-based development, prioritising high-end tourism products and green tourism while developing the heritage economy and night-time economy. Through this process, the province has gradually affirmed its position as one of the country’s leading tourism centres and made an increasingly significant contribution to green growth and sustainable development.
Meanwhile, the processing and manufacturing industry has created new momentum for the economy. Building on these new growth drivers, Quang Ninh identifies science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as strategic breakthroughs. A number of strategic projects, including a new growth model driven by science and technology, the Quang Ninh Digital and Free Knowledge Economy Zone, the Tuan Chau concentrated digital technology park, and the Mong Cai–Dongxing Smart Border Gate, are laying the foundation for Quang Ninh to become a regional centre for innovation and the digital economy.
