Quang Ninh tourism gears up for vibrant summer with major events

Building on positive growth recorded from the beginning of 2026, Quang Ninh’s tourism sector is maintaining its upward momentum as it enters the summer peak season, supported by a wide range of cultural and sporting events aimed at offering visitors diverse and memorable experiences.

The Quang Ninh Summer Culture, Sports and Tourism Week 2026, themed “Ha Long Carnaval 2026 – Wonders Shine in the New Era,” will take place from April 25 to May 3. The Week is expected to attract around 1.3 million tourist arrivals, contributing to the province’s second-quarter target of welcoming 5.92 million tourist arrivals, with total tourism revenue estimated at VND 18.176 trillion. A highlight will be the opening ceremony scheduled to begin at 8pm on April 30 at 30/10 Square in Ha Long Ward, with an anticipated audience of up to 50,000 people.

A series of accompanying events will also be held, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere. These include the street carnival “Dance of Five Continents – Quang Ninh Summer Welcome,” taking place from April 28 to May 2 along coastal roads in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Bai Chay wards; and the street music programme “Melodies by the Bay,” running from April 28 to May 3 at 30/10 Square and along Bai Chay coastal road.

Other highlights include the Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival, to be held from April 29 to 30; and the “wave of lights” performance by Ha Long Bay tourist vessels scheduled from April 28 to May 2 along the coastal area.. Around 50 vessels will be equipped with synchronised artistic lighting systems, moving in formation along the coastline from Hon Gai Beach and Ha Long International Cruise Port to Tuan Chau International Cruise Port, combined with music and coastal lighting effects to create a striking visual highlight.

From April 25 to May 3, residents and visitors will also be able to enjoy the Quang Ninh Summer Film Week 2026 at venues including the Quang Ninh Exhibition of Planning and Expo Center, the provincial Museum - Library, the Yen Tu Complex of Historical Monuments and Scenic Landscapes, Van Don and Co To. Additional activities include exhibitions of literature, arts and sculpture of the Mining Area at 30/10 Square and Bai Chay coastal road; the Ha Long International Food Street at 30/10 Square in Ha Long Ward or Sun Carnival Square in Bai Chay Ward; hot air balloon experiences themed “Flying with the Wonder” at 30/10 Square and Bai Chay tourist area; and an OCOP fair featuring 120 booths alongside showcases of Vietnamese folk arts and a series of sporting activities at Sun Carnival Square, the Quang Ninh Exhibition of Planning and Expo Center and 30/10 Square.

At the Yen Tu Complex of Monuments and Landscapes, an art programme titled “Yen Tu Summer 2026” will take place on April 19, with an expected audience of around 10,000 people, promoting the values of the Yen Tu World Cultural Heritage and commemorate the death anniversary of the Second Patriarch Phap Loa.

According to Quang Ninh’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province welcomed approximately 6.3 million tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2026, up about 10% year on year. Total tourism revenue was estimated at VND 15.687 trillion, an  increase of 20% compared to the same period in 2025. These results provide an important foundation for the sector as it enters the peak season with strong growth prospects.
