On August 6, continuing the agenda of its first extraordinary session, the 16th National Assembly heard proposals and reports and held group discussions on a range of major issues, including the establishment of Quang Ninh as a centrally governed city.
During group discussions, deputies agreed that Quang Ninh fully meets the conditions and criteria required to become a centrally governed city. In particular, they highlighted the province's strong urban foundation, well-developed and integrated infrastructure, robust socio-economic performance indicators, and its role as a major hub for tourism and international trade. These strategic advantages provide a solid foundation for Quang Ninh’s next stage of development.
Speaking at the discussion session, Quang Ninh Provincial Party Secretary Quan Minh Cuong outlined the province’s strategic development priorities for the new period, emphasizing the need to pursue substantive development, place people at the centre of policymaking, and improve the quality of economic growth.
