On December 3, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Quang Ninh Ethnic Minority Women’s Football Tournament - VTV5 Cup was jointly held by the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with VTV5 (The Ethnic Language Channel of Vietnam Television), and the People’s Committee of Binh Lieu at Huc Dong Stadium in Binh Lieu Commune.
The opening ceremony and the first matches were broadcast live on VTV5, and simulcast on QTV3 as well as through Quang Ninh’s newspaper, radio, and television platforms.
Delivering remarks at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Thanh Tung, stressed that the tournament is a celebration of unity among women in upland communities. It offers a powerful display of cultural identity through players’ traditional attire on the pitch. The signature colors on the field convey messages of gender equality, confidence, and the determination of highland women to thrive in modern life.
This year’s tournament brings together eight women’s teams from Quang Ninh and neighboring provinces such as Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang. Competing in a 7-a-side format, the teams will battle through a group stage before advancing to the knockout rounds and the final.
A total of 15 matches will be played from December 3 to 7, promising an energetic and exciting sporting atmosphere set against the stunning mountainous backdrop of Binh Lieu.
