The Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee has issued Plan No. 115/KH-UBND on the organisation of the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed railway project. This is a key inter-regional transport infrastructure with strategic significance for the province’s socio-economic development.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 12, 2026 at the site of Green Ha Long Station, located in Tuan Chau and Viet Hung wards. The event aims to celebrate the success of deputies election to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure. The event also contributes to promoting Quang Ninh’s image and socio-economic achievements, creating new momentum for the next phase of development and concretising the province’s 2026 theme: “Promoting regional connectivity, sustainable development, and building a synchronous and modern transport infrastructure system.”
The Hanoi - Quang Ninh high-speed railway project will feature a double-track, standard-gauge (1,435mm), electrified line with a total length of approximately 120km and a maximum design speed of 350km/h. The line starts at Co Loa Station in Hanoi and ends at the Public Park area in Tuan Chau Ward. The project is implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) investment model and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2028.
