On September 30, the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee organized a large-scale exercise on firefighting, search and rescue, and oil spill response at Petrolimex Quang Ninh Co., Ltd. and in the waters of Cua Luc bay.
The drill was attended and directed by Major General Nguyen Dinh Hoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue under the Ministry of Public Security, and Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Cong.
In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Cong praised the active participation of all forces throughout both the training and the exercise. He stressed that Quang Ninh is one of Vietnam’s key provinces for fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue across multiple sectors, with an urbanization rate approaching 70%.
Fire safety and rescue work have consistently received strong attention and direction from the Party, the Government, the Ministry of Public Security, and provincial leaders. The province has mobilized significant resources, facilities, and modern equipment, with the active engagement of the political system and the public.
Community-led initiatives have also developed in both scope and depth, giving rise to many self-managed and voluntary fire prevention models. Consequently, the number of fires and explosions, as well as related damages, has been brought under control and significantly reduced. This has helped safeguard security and order, while creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development and for ensuring peace and well-being for local communities.
Despite these positive outcomes, the risk of fires and explosions in the province remains complex and unpredictable, presenting ongoing challenges for fire and rescue forces. For this reason, the drill held special importance, not only reinforcing operational readiness but also serving as a strong communication effort to raise public awareness and foster greater responsibility among government agencies, businesses, and citizens in fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue.
