Donald Trump returns to world’s 500 richest list
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has returned to a list of 500 richest people in the world as his company shares surge two weeks ahead of the next U.S. presidential election.
Trump’s net worth has spiked 112% this year to $6.5 billion as of Wednesday, making him the 481st richest person in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
The last time he was on the list was 11 weeks ago. His wealth has risen as Trump Media & Technology Group Corp has nearly tripled in value since late last month.
Trump Media has been trading as a proxy for betting on the likelihood that Trump will be the next U.S. President. In recent weeks, betting platforms have seen a significant rise in the odds of Trump winning the Nov. 5 elections, Bloomberg reported.
Trump's fortune is derived from his ownership of the Trump Organization, an international real estate conglomerate and licensing business.
The company has recently announced a $1.5 billion investment in a golf, hotel and residence complex in northern Vietnam through a partnership with a local firm.
