The presence of an international border gate gives the locality an advantage in attracting large numbers of international visitors from the Chinese market. To tap the high-quality visitor segment, travel businesses are also focusing on developing products connecting multiple destinations and high-end services to extend stays and increase tourist spending.

Building on its border-gate and coastal advantages, Mong Cai 1 ward is gradually expanding its range of visitor experiences. Products are being developed in connection with relics and traditional festivals, while border tourism itineraries are being strengthened and shopping, culinary and night-time economy services expanded to enhance the destination’s appeal.

In the first nine months of 2026, Mong Cai 1 ward welcomed around 3.46 million tourist arrivals, generating more than VND 8.3 trillion in revenue. An increasingly diverse tourism space, stronger product linkages and gradually improving service quality are helping the locality realise its orientation towards more in-depth tourism development, with priority given to quality and added value from tourism.
