On March 18, the 10th Viet Nam - China Border Defence Friendship Exchange officially took place with a range of activities held in Quang Ninh Province of Viet Nam.
At the exchange, the defence ministers of Viet Nam and China affirmed that the 10th exchange event is significant as it was organised shortly after the first ministerial-level strategic dialogue among the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, National Defence and Public Security of the two countries. The event demonstrates the active and proactive role of both defence ministries in implementing the shared understandings reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and States regarding defence cooperation and agreed areas of collaboration.
Since the two ministries of defence began organising the Viet Nam - China Border Defence Friendship Exchange in 2014, cooperation have become increasingly substantive and effective, with broader spread. The programme has become one of the symbolic and meaningful activities in bilateral defence cooperation, demonstrating strong political commitment from the Central Military Commissions, the ministries of defence, local authorities, and particularly the people and armed forces in border areas of the two countries.
In the framework of exchange programme, the two defence ministers co-chaired talks between the high-level military delegations, and attended a range of meaningful activities held in Quang Ninh, namely a friendship tree-planting ceremony, a groundbreaking ceremony for for the Hai Son Commune Friendship Health Station, and visit to Tran Phu High School in Mong Cai 2 Ward and Tra Co Border Guard Stations.
