Vietnam to host first international standard bakery chef competition
The 2024 International Bakery Chef Competition will be held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, from December 11-14.
This is the first International Standard Bakery Chef Competition in Vietnam, which holds significant meaning not only for Vietnamese chefs but also for the food technology industry and culinary culture of Vietnam.
The event is expected to attract about 400-500 contestants from both country and abroad.
According to the organisers, the competition is open to professional pastry chefs, cooks, and sculptors who wish to be recognised as MasterChefs certified by the World Association of Chefs' Societies.
The competition will feature both Vietnamese and international judges with great experience in evaluating entries in domestic and international competitions.
For young chefs, this event also presents a chance to learn and establish themselves, thereby contributing to the development of the pastry industry in Vietnam.
"Not only is this an international pastry chef competition, but it is also an event that helps promote and showcase the cultural and economic values of the Vietnamese pastry industry, contributing to the advancement of both the pastry industry and cuisine of Vietnam as a whole", said Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association Nguyen Thi Khanh.
At the competition, an exhibition area will be set up to introduce various ingredients and materials used in pastry-making, as well as spaces for performances and contests, and areas for serving guests.
In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, discussions, and talk shows centred around pastry topics.
