Vietnam sends over 111,500 workers abroad in first nine months
A total of 111,507 Vietnamese people were sent to work abroad in the first nine months of 2023, according to data from labour export companies.
The figure is up 8.23% over the same period last year and exceeds the full-year target by 1.37%. In September alone, Vietnam dispatched 14,273 workers.
Japan was the largest recipient of Vietnamese workers with 55,690, followed by Taiwan (China) with 46,166 and the Republic of Korea with 2,449.
Other overseas labour markets included China, Hungary, Singapore, Romania, Poland and Saudi Arabia.
With a rise in the number of workers sent to Japan, Vietnam is currently the largest source of foreign workers in the East Asian country. As of December 2020, about 345,000 Vietnamese people were working in Japan.
Efforts to effectively implement the Vietnam-Japan labour cooperation programme have created opportunities for many highly skilled Vietnamese workers to work in Japan.
