Vietnam ripened rice fields photo wins Epson gold
Cao Ky Nhan has won gold at the Epson International Pano Awards for his shot of golden yellow rice fields flanking a river in Cao Bang Province.
The photo, taken in September 2019, captures the golden yellow color of rice fields along the Quay Son River as it snakes through a mountain range in Phong Nam Commune, Trung Khanh District.
Nhan’s photo scored 87 marks out of 100 in the Open/Nature Landscape category at the world’s largest panoramic photo event.
The jury panel awarded gold prizes to scores of 86 and above, silver for 80-85 and bronze for 70-79.
Phong Nam Commune is mainly inhabited by the ethnic Tay community who earn their living farming and fishing and live in traditional stilt houses.
At the start of October, rice fields along the Quay Son River, which forms a natural border with China, become golden in color.
The river originates in China’s Jingxi County in the Chongshan Mountain Range and runs along the border with Vietnam.
This year’s photo contest received over 4,000 entries from amateur and professional photographers in 98 countries and territories around the world.
Nhan had won another gold at the awards last year with a magical capture of the Tuyen Lam Lake in Da Lat.
