Vietnam-Australia Corp needs to speed up high-quality shrimp breeding complex

According to the commitments by the Vietnam-Australia Seafood Corporation, some of the shrimp breeding farms under the Hi-quality shrimp breeding complex project in Dam Ha district will go into operation by May, 2018 with a capacity of 50 million shrimp breeding per farm. However, for some reasons, the Corp has to put it off till July.

A shrimp breeding farm (Hi-quality shrimp breeding complex project in Dam Ha district) is under construction.

Started in 2017, in Tan Lap commune, Dam Ha district, the Hi-quality Shrimp Breeding Complex is invested by the Vietnam-Australia Corporation with the total invetsment capital of around VND500 billion. The complex includes a shrimp breeding area, a food manufacturing plant, a hi-tech intensive shrimp farming greenhouse, and a shrimp processing plant for export.  The project is divided into two phases, focusing on building technical infrastructure, commercial shrimp breeding areas and waste treatment plants.

One of the reasons for the project’s delay is related to the land clearance. In fact, 28 hectares and 10.72 ha of the land was handed over to the enterprise in August, 2018 and April in 2018, respectively. Bad weather and unfavourable terrain are also factors causing difficulties for the construction works.

Besides, it is reported that the project needs more than 100 hectares of the land in the second phase in order to build the hi-quality super-intentsive shirmp farming greenhouse and the shrimp processing plant for export. However, there is around 80 hectares of the forest land in the project planning.

To deal with these problems, functional departments of Quang Ninh have collaborated with the Corporation  in finding the other forest growing location so as to replace the 80 hectares of the forest land.

Earlier, the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh had spent VND38 billion on building road, improving the system of electricity and water in Tan Lap commune, there by partly supporting the corporation during their project implementation.
