Bac Luan Bridge No.2, put into operation in Mar.19, 2019, has promptly solved urgent requirements and set a foundation for trade strategy and import and export in Mong Cai City in particular and Quang Ninh in general. Since its operation, the bridge has boosted import and export activities between Vietnam and China via Quang Ninh and Guangxi.
According to Mong Cai Border Gate Custom, temporary custom clearance via Bac Luan Bridge No.2 was allowed from Mar.19, 2019 by both Vietnam and China’s Governments. By Dec.31, 2019, 612 enterprises had often conducted import and export activities via the bridge with 100-150 vehicle arrivals a day. Total imported and exported good values via the bridge in 2019 reached more than 325 million USD. Over 60,300 vehicle arrivals undertake entry and exit procedures via Bac Luan Bridge No.2 on the same year.
Due to Covid-19 spirals since post Lunar New Year, imports and exports were postponed meanwhile domestic consumption demand, and demand for export and import of raw materials for production increased. Since Bac Luan Bridge No.2 resumed its operation on Feb. 13, 2020, transportation volume has increased with 150-250 vehicle arrivals a day. There are now 625 enterprises regularly conduct import and export procedures via the bridge.
Since the beginning of the year to Aug.22, 24,669 vehicles transported imported and exported commodity via Bac Luan Bridge, a year on year increase of 25.7%. Total imported and exported commodity volume reached 474,090 tons. Imported items are mainly consumer goods, lamp components, seafood, plants… raw material for processors, manufacturers and exporters while exported items are fiber, fruit, agricultural products…
In order to improve the operational efficiency of the Bac Luan Bridge No.2, along with expanding warehouse infrastructure and administrative reform, Mong Cai (Vietnam) and Dongxing (China) will effectively implement measures against Covid-19 to promote import-export activities and border trade; actively connect Vietnam - China businesses through the organization of business matching; create the most favorable conditions for businesses that have been doing import and export activities via Bac Luan Bridge No.2 as well as the new comers in this field, especially global-scale businesses and groups.
