Van Don-Mong Cai expressway opens to traffic

The Van Don-Mong Cai expressway in the northern province of Quang Ninh opened to traffic on the occasion of Viet Nam's National Day (September 2).

Present at the event included Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, former Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, former standing member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong.

Work on the 80-kilometer-long four-lane expressway began in April 2019 at a cost of VND44 trillion. Expressway will allow vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

Van Tien Bridge – the longest of 32 bridges crossing rivers and seas on the route.

The expressway helps shorten travel time between Van Don district and Mong Cai city to 50 minutes instead of two hours.

The expressway will connect to the 300-km Ha Noi – Ha Long Expressway and 264-km Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway to become the longest route in the country.
