Vietnam International Digital Week 2024 (VIDW 2024) The fifth ASEAN 5G Conference
As a highlight of the Vietnam International Digital Week 2024 (VIDW 2024), the fifth ASEAN 5G Conference brought together regional leaders to discuss the critical role of 5G in ASEAN’s growth and connectivity.
Attendees included Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam, representatives from ASEAN member states, and telecommunications businesses from both the region and beyond.
Launched in 2018 as a Vietnamese initiative, the ASEAN 5G Conference aims to strengthen regional cooperation on policies, investments, and advancements in 5G technology, services, and applications.
Delegates shared updates on the progress of 5G deployment within their countries, showcased emerging technologies, and exchanged insights on Open RAN (Open Radio Access Network) systems. Discussions also centered on key priorities such as Open RAN deployment, regulatory frameworks for 5G, technological innovation, and building ecosystems to drive collaboration.
On the same day, an international forum on digital strategy, policy and AI governance with Australia took place in Ha Long city.
Experts, state agencies, and businesses from Vietnam and Australia exchanged and shared information on digital service standards, digital experience policies, implementation roadmap, goals for the digital transformation roadmap, key content of digital transformation, etc.
They also had detailed discussions on AI-related issues such as regulations on ensuring network security, formulating policies to promote AI, assigning responsibilities to officials, applying technical standards, etc.
