Spain take home maximum Euro 2024 prize money worth $30.8M
Spain won the highest possible prize money at the Euro 2024, about $30.8 million, for winning all seven matches.
According to AS, this amount is divided into attending the tournament ($10 million), three wins in the group stage ($3.3 million), round of 16 ($1.6 million), quarterfinals ($2.8 million), semifinals ($4.4 million) and winning the title ($8.7 million).
On their journey to their successful title, coach Luis De La Fuente's team defeated a series of strong opponents such as Croatia, Italy, Germany, France and England. They are considered one of the most convincing champions in Euro history.
Following Spain in prize money are England with $26.4 million. The difference between them and Spain mainly comes from the difference between the prize money for winning the title and for reaching the final of $5.4 million. In addition, while Spain won all of their matches, England had two draws in the group stage and they lost $1.1 million. In this year's Euro, each draw brings in $550,000, equal to half of a win.
France are third in prize money with $21 million, while Netherlands are fourth with $20.45 million. Host Germany were eliminated in the quarterfinals and earned $17.15 million. Portugal, Switzerland and Turkey received $550,000 less than Germany, as they all lost one game in the group stage. The remaining teams received from $10.55 million to $13.85 million.
The prize money for Euro 2024 exceeds that of Copa America 2024. Despite receiving a record bonus in the tournament's history, Argentina only earned $16 million, about half that of Spain.
