On April 28, the Viking Orion brought more than 1,300 visitors from the United States and Europe to Quang Ninh and Piano Land carrying over 1,600 Chinese tourists called the port of Ha Long on April 29.

After disembarking, visitors joined sightseeing tours around Hạ Long city, explored the iconic Hạ Long Bay, visited the Quang Ninh Museum, and enjoyed local culture, cuisine, and high-end tourism services. Both ships are scheduled to depart from Ha Long International Cruise Port on the evening of April 29.

Cruise arrivals will continue on April 30, with the arrival of Pacific World, operated by Japan’s Peace Boat Company. The ship is carrying about 1,700 passengers, mostly Japanese tourists, as part of an itinerary that began in Yokohama, Japan, and includes multiple international ports of call - including Ha Long city.

Notably, this marks the first time Quang Ninh has received a full charter cruise dedicated exclusively to Japanese tourists. This milestone opens new opportunities to develop cruise routes connecting Japanese ports with Quang Ninh, and signals growth from a high-spending international market that is key to the province's tourism strategy.

Since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh has welcomed 28 cruise ships carrying over 41,100 visitors as the result of proactive efforts by the provincial tourism sector to collaborate with cruise lines, introduce innovations, and create favorable conditions for this high-potential market.

Looking ahead, the number of cruise tourists arriving in Hạ Long is projected to grow by 15-20% annually, with a steady presence of major international cruise lines.

Quang Ninh aims to welcome 20 million visitors by 2025, including over 4.5 million international arrivals.
