Parliament leader attends “Tet for the poor” programme in Nghe An
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended the “Tet for the poor” programme held in the central province of Nghe An on the night of January 21.
Speaking at the programme, Nghe An Chairman Nguyen Duc Trung stated that the province has mobilised more than 726 billion VND (29.6 million USD) to care for poor people during the Lunar New Year (Tet) in the past 11 years.
The province has also helped with construction and renovation of over 7,500 houses worth a total of 523 billion VND (21.3 million USD) for underprivileged households.
At the programme, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented many gifts to poor households and disadvantaged people.
Earlier in the morning, the parliament leader attended a ceremony to award the third-class Labour Order to Nghi Xuan Commune in Nghi Loc District and recognise it as an advanced new rural area.
Ahead of the Lunar New Year, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented 200 gifts worth a total of 200 million VND to poor households in Nghi Loc District.
Later that afternoon, the top legislator visited Yen Thanh District, where he presented Tet gifts to policy beneficiary families, revolutionary contributors, and poor households.
