Da Nang international fireworks festival to return in June
The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, one of Vietnam's leading tourism events, will be held every Saturday night for five consecutive weeks starting June 3, marking its comeback after three years.
This year’s event has attracted pyrotechnic teams from eight countries - Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, and host Vietnam.
Pyrotechnic teams Vietnam and Finland will compete along the Han River on June 3 following the opening ceremony. Canada and France will go next on June 10 while the performances of Italy and Australia will be on June 17, and Poland and the United Kingdom on June 24.
The finale will take place on July 8 with a matchup between the best two teams after four elimination rounds.
First held in 2008 as a two-day competition, the event became a two-month festival in 2017, helping the city cement its status as a leading tourism destination.
The festival was last held in 2019 but was then cancelled during the next three years due to the Covid pandemic.
Da Nang, famous for its long sandy beaches, received 483,000 foreign tourists last year, up 4.6 times from 2021.
