Nestled along the northeastern coast of Vietnam, Cam Pha is quietly emerging as a dazzling new destination for travelers seeking pristine beauty, cultural depth, and unforgettable marine adventures. While Ha Long Bay has long been a household name, its neighboring treasure - Bai Tu Long Bay - is finally stepping into the spotlight, with Cam Pha at the heart of the action.

Cam Pha possesses abundant resources for the development of marine and island tourism.

In an exciting step forward for Vietnam’s northeastern coast, late March 2025 marked the official launch of new tourism routes on Bai Tu Long Bay, centered around the vibrant hub of Van Don. This milestone not only elevates the global recognition of the Ha Long - Bai Tu Long heritage site, but also opens up thrilling new travel experiences for visitors. More importantly, it serves as a powerful catalyst for tourism growth in Cam Pha, Van Don, Co To, and neighboring regions.

For Cam Phả in particular, this development presents a golden opportunity to expand its tourism footprint toward the stunning southern coastline -home to the majestic Bai Tu Long Bay.

According to Mr. Bui Hai Son, Head of the Department of Culture, Science, and Information of Cam Pha city, this is a clear signal of momentum, affirming the city’s strong commitment to unlocking its coastal potential and transforming its tourism landscape.

Strategically located and well-connected by roadways, waterways, and seaports, Cam Phai is not only a key transportation hub but also a city blessed with natural assets perfect for marine tourism. Boasting over 150 km² of sea area, 70 km of coastline, and 50 picturesque islands, the city offers a rich canvas for developing high-quality tourism services. At the heart of it all is Bai Tu Long Bay - an unspoiled gem known for its serene beauty and spectacular seascapes.

Vision 2030: Marine tourism as a spearhead sector

Cam Pha has laid out a bold vision to make marine tourism a driving force in its economy. Under its development strategy through 2030, the city plans to transform the Km6 Port into a modern general and tourism port, enhancing accessibility for both domestic and international travelers.

Major projects are already underway, including the high-end Quang Hanh Coastal Resort Complex, new coastal urban areas, and diverse tourism-service hubs. One of the most exciting developments is the Vung Duc Tourism Park Complex, designed to be a key attraction in the city's expanding network of beaches and service parks. Additionally, the southern city area - spanning 1,000 hectares - is being master-planned into a coastal square zone and landmark scenic axis, promising to become an iconic symbol of Cam Pha.

Unlocking new experiences on land and sea

To enrich the visitor experience, Cam Pha is introducing a range of new, high-end tourism products. These include overnight cruises and day trips across Bai Tu Long Bay, with captivating stops at islands like Ông Cụ, Bản Sen, and Quan Lạn. These offerings are designed to attract discerning travelers while integrating Cam Pha into the broader tourism network of Quang Ninh province.

A new inner-city tourism route has also been proposed, along with two new connections linking Cam Pha and Van Don. The city is steadily expanding its tourism space southward, collaborating with key stakeholders to survey and develop new destinations that will truly awaken the untapped potential of the bay.

In a standout move, Cam Pha has joined forces with global travel leader TUI Musement to attract international cruise lines to the city - setting the stage for Cam Pha to become a major gateway for luxury sea travel.

Plans are also in motion to develop a modern tourist boat fleet of 50 to 80 vessels, including around 20 overnight cruise ships that will offer guests the chance to sleep under the stars on the tranquil waters of Bai Tu Long Bay.
