Binh Lieu in the white colour of So flower
Winter is called the season of So flower by local people in the mountainous district of Binh Lieu. The scenery that most hills and roads are covered in the white colour of this flower often leaves great impresson on every nature-lover.
About more than 100 kilometers away from the city of Ha Long, Binh Lieu is a mountainous district, Quang Ninh province’s borders district with nearly 96% of ethnic minorities such as Tay, Dao and San Chi. Binh Lieu has beautiful mountain scenery which remains pristine and has borderline system, row on row of mountains.
Normally, So flowers start to bloom in September every year and they are in full bloom from mid-November, creating a romantic scene interwoven with green mountains. In order to promote this charming beauty, Binh Lieu district has organized an annual festival of So flower since 2015.
This year’s festival was held on December 7-8 at the forest of So trees at Dong Long hamlet, Dong Tam Commune, Binh Lieu District.
The two-day event aims to promote the district’s landscape, people and uphold cultural values, as well as its advantages for tourism development, thereby attracting investments into Binh Lieu to develop it into a tourist attraction.

During the festial, domestic and international tourists had a great chance to enjoy the beauty of Binh Lieu mountainous district covered in white So flowers. There will be a range of activities such as an exhibition on beautiful scenery in Binh Lieu, art performances, a culinary competition, a youth music festival and campfire, a bike race, a fair of OCOP products and souvenirs, ect.
Currently, some areas in the moutainous district of Binh Lieu have currently been covered in the white colour of this kind of flowers, which has lured thousands of local and tourists.
Apart from attending the festival, tourists can visit fascinating sites in Binh Lieu such as Luc Na communal house, Khe Van waterfall, Khe Thien waterfall, Mooc A waterfall, border roads, etc. They can also trek up mountains to admire various wild flowers and fruits, enjoy the beauty of immense terraced rice fields and learn more about the daily life of ethnic people living in stilt houses scattered around mounts and hills.
In addition, listening to the traditional singing of Soong Co and Then performed by the Tay ethnic people is regarded as a really special experience during the time tourists stay in Binh Lieu.
