99 competitors partake in 38th Quang Ninh Traditional Chess Tournament

The opening ceremony of the 38th Quang Ninh Traditional Chess Tournament was jointly held at the 5,000-seat multi-purpose Stadium (Dai Yen ward, Ha Long city) this morning, July 13.

The tournament attracted the participation of nearly 99 chess players from 7 localities including Dong Trieu, Uong Bi, Quang Yen, Ha Long, Cam Pha, Tien Yen, Mong Cai and two chess clubs.

These competitors are supposed to compete in 7-round Swiss system chess and Chinese chess in order to win individual and team prizes.

The annual competition aims to not only make a proper assessment of  the quality of chess training and competition movements in the province. Outstanding chess players will be selected for the provincial team to compete domestically and internationally.

As planned, the tournament will last until July 16.
