The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Decisions No. 2918/QD-BVHTTDL and No. 2919/QD-BVHTTDL, recognising two more relic sites in Quang Ninh City as national relic sites: the Vung Duc historical relic site in Cam Pha ward and the Thien Long Uyen archaeological relic site, which encompasses the Yen Duc stake field.
Historical records show that dozens of revolutionary soldiers sacrificed their lives at the Vung Duc Historical Relic Site between 1946 and 1949. The Vung Duc historical and scenic relic site was recognised as a provincial-level historical relic site in 1999.
The Thien Long Uyen archaeological relic site and the Yen Duc stake field are located in Hoang Que ward. In 2013, local residents discovered the stake field while digging a pond near the Da Bac river, which joins the Gia River to form the historic Bach Dang river.
Quang Ninh now has a total of 59 national relic sites, including eight special national relic sites. The recognition of these two sites is a source of pride for local residents and further enriches the city’s tangible cultural heritage. It also provides a basis for continued efforts to protect, preserve and promote their historical and archaeological values, ensuring that these precious traces of the past are passed down to future generations.
